Steve Saleen said Thursday that he will honor the warranties on some of the products that bear his name–a month after the new owners of his former company said they wouldnt accept the older claims.
Saleen said hell honor warranty claims on products purchased up to Feb. 2, 2009, under the terms of his new company, SMS Supercars in Southern California.

The investors who just purchased most of the assets of specialty-car maker Saleen Inc. have considered buying the Dodge Viper business, though its unclear whether they are among the three bidders Chrysler has publicly acknowledged.
Weve considered a purchase of Viper, said Mike Shields, who along with his brother owns controlling interests in several Michigan auto-related companies.
The future of specialty carmaker Saleen Inc. is getting a little clearer: Most of the company was sold to a Michigan group last week after being on the block since November.
An entity called MJ Acquisitions, which owns parts and engine companies in Michigan, bought Saleens performance street-car program, supercharger and aftermarket business from Los Angeles private-investment firm Hancock Park Associates. Terms were not revealed.
